Day 3 / Istanbul

Did you know that the Turkish bath all started years ago with Cleopatra? It is said that Cleopatra, Queen of Egypt, complained of incurable long-lasting headaches. The doctors of that time couldn’t find a remedy for the illness; however, one day a young man presented a solution which many found hard to believe. It was a soap-massage in a Turkish bath. If you sometimes complain of body pains, long lasting headaches, excess body weight, or simply have the desire to feel fresh and young, then a trip to the “Hammam” will leave you feeling like a new person. A Turkish bath is a great experience and the perfect way to relax and unwind.

From the pier, you’ll be transferred to the Turkish bath, or hammam as called by the locals. You may either bring a bathing suit or use the pashmina clothing provided at the venue. You’ll enjoy a scrubbing massage which will open the pores of your skin, followed by a foam massage to relax your body.  The Turkish bath is a unique and memorable experience that will leave you feeling renewed, refreshed and rejuvenated. Basic package: bath + rubbing + bubble/foam bath. And then your day will continue with Topkapi Palace (including Harem section) which is an incomparably rich treasure-chest, brimming with items of historical importance. You will have lunch with ottoman cuisine at a special restaurant in the palace. Then return to Hotel for leisure. For dinner, meet your guide at the Hotel for the Whirling Dervishes which trace their origin to the 13th century Ottoman Empire. The Dervishes known as Mevlevi Order are “Sufis”: a spiritual offshoot of Islam. Sufis are known as the Whirling Dervishes due to their famous practice of whirling as a form of dhikr (remembrance of Allah). You will witness rhythms of this spiritual concept, which survives even today.

While you are watching the ceremony, a Dervish dinner and traditional Ottoman drink, “Sherbet” will be served.
