PANAMA – Adrenaline Immersion

Panama is on the isthmus that links Central and South America. It is also home to the famous Panama Canal that cuts through its centre, linking the Atlantic and Pacific oceans to create a vital shipping short-cut. In Panama City, modern skyscrapers, casinos and nightclubs contrast with colonial buildings in the Casco Viejo district and the country’s rain forests.

Day 1-  Arrive in Panama City International Airport (The Hub of the Americas)

Your English speaking guide will be waiting for you with a sign so they will be easy to find and will take you to your Boutique hotel, as you get acquainted with the city. You will be able to ask them any questions as they give you a brief introduction to Panamanian culture.

The transfer will take you to the Villa Palma Boutique hotel  in Casco Antiguo (Colonial City). This is a one of a kind experience since the Old Quarter or Casco Antiguo is a UNESCO World Heritage site . You will travel back in time to 1673 and will have a magnificent view of the Panama Bay. Villa Palma Hotel has 14 suites and the Art Deco furniture has all been imported from Italy (Francesco Molon’s designs) Here you will experience luxury in an historic location. 

In the evening you’ll experience a Panamanian Delights Gala evening (3 Hours approx.) Panama is famous for its flavours, you are invited to an exciting and delightful evening with the best dishes and a display of the typical dresses, dancing and a welcome drinks. The City night lights in vibrant Panama City contribute to your enjoyment of Panama at its best.

Day 2 – Panama Canal and Gatun Lake Jungle Eco Cruise (4 to 5 hours. approximately)

Meet your guide in the Lobby of the Hotel right after a delicious gourmet breakfast. You’ll then travel to the Canal-side town of Gamboa in our private transportation. Built to house Panama Canal workers in 1911, Gamboa has preserved those early 20th-century homes and landmarks, and is situated at the point where the Chagres River flows into the Panama Canal.

You’ll board a covered boat on the Panama Canal and cruise alongside commercial and private boat traffic that are making the trip between the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. You emerge into Gatun Lake and continue to the islands created by the construction of the Panama Canal. Gatun Lake was formed when engineers blocked the Chagres River with Gatun Dam, once the largest earth dam in the world. Watch for wildlife along the shoreline of the Monkey Islands, and try to spot capuchin, howler, and tamarin monkeys in the foliage. Gatun Lake is also home to a diverse range of tropical birds, while coati, agouti, capybara, and iguanas forage in the undergrowth.

At the end of the 90-minute boat trip return to Panama City, where this tour concludes with drop-off at the door of your Hotel.

This is an Eco-tour on the Panama Canal, not a transit tour.  You will not visit or transit any locks.

After a wonderful experience with Mother Nature, your guide will take you to one of the must do places in Panama City for lunch – El Mercado de Mariscos. If you like seafood, you’re going to love it here. The waters off the coast of Panama on the Pacific side are rich in seafood. The fishermen come in by day and sell their catches to wholesalers who buy the entire catch. The wholesalers then turn around and resell the fish to retailers who sell it to the general public, so, the catch of the day, Tuna, Lobster, Shrimp, Prawns and a wide variety of all kinds of seafood direct from the Pacific ocean to your table. This restaurant is in the top rank and serves a fusion of Panamanian /Peruvian / International dishes for your delight.

Your evening is free for you to Shop and explore.  Casco Antiguo has many Colonial Catholic churches, museums, art galleries and handcraft markets where you can get a wide selection of pieces that express the riches of our cultures. All kinds of speciality coffee shops, restaurants, bars, night clubs and much more are waiting for you.

Day 3 – Flight to Chiriqui Province:

In the morning you will catch the early flight to the city of David, second largest city in the country, where our representatives will be waiting for you and take you on a short 45 minutes ride to the town of Boquete in the highlands, you will realise how the weather and scenery changes as you go into the countryside.

As you arrive into Boquete, you will check in at one of the most iconic Boutique Hotels in the area – the Hotel Panamonte. Dating back over 100 years, this masterpiece has 20 rooms, a bar and a restaurant where executive chef Charlie Collins (Author of T’ACH Authentic Panamanian Cuisine) mesmerises with all kinds of gourmet creations in Panamanian style. Here we will lunch.

Lost Waterfalls Cloud forest Jungle Hike:

Early in the afternoon we will depart to the Bajo Mono area, where you will hike through the unspoiled Panamanian cloud forest in a medium intensity 4 hour hike. You’ll discover 3 amazing waterfalls, you are welcome to bring your swimsuit and energise in the cool water at about 5000 feet (2000 metres) above sea level.

Day 4 – White water River Rafting Madness (7 to 8 Hours. approximately):

Right after breakfast, get ready… it doesn’t get better than the white-water rafting experience in Boquete. With several world-class white-water runs in Panama’s Chiriqui province alone, there is no Central America paddling destination more extraordinary than Panama. Boquete tops the list as offering some of the best white-water rafting trips in the world. The combination of the region’s topography, abundant watersheds and incredible biological diversity make Panama an extraordinary white-water river rafting destination featuring breath-taking views of nature and wildlife.

For rafters of all experience, we’d love to get your group out on the rivers of Panama with several classic Class II and III runs that offer only super-fun whitewater rafting. Based on rainfall, water levels, and season, we select from the Rio Chiriqui Viejo, Rio Fonseca, Rio Gariche, Rio Chiriqui, as well as many others.

Day 5 – Volcan Baru 4×4 Extreme Adventure (6 Hrs. Approximately)

Wake-up call at 4 am, In our 4 x 4 vehicle you will ascend to the highest elevation point in the country and one of the 205 UNESCO’s natural world heritage sites which is 11400 feet (3475 metres) above sea level. The breath-taking views are unmatched anywhere in the world since it is the only place where you have the possibility to see both the Pacific and the Atlantic oceans at the same time. Sunrise is the best time to experience this and we will bring local Panamanian coffee to go along with the views.

Lunch at Colibri Restaurant.

Colibri (Spanish for hummingbird) is one of our favourite restaurants, the concept of the owners is to use local products in fusion cuisine.  They have a wide variety of options ranging from gluten free, vegetarian to pork chop or tuna tartar. All highly recommended.

Birdwatching paradise hike (3 Hours).

Early in the afternoon we will take you to the pipeline trail, also in the Cloud forest of Boquete is home to one of the most sought after birds in the bird watching community… The Quetzal. If you are lucky enough you will get a glimpse of this Central American gem. Hummingbirds, tanagers and many others birds blend together with colours and sounds that will take you on a journey to another universe.

Specialty Coffee Farm visit w/ Cupping session (Optional)

If you are a coffee lover you could also visit one of the most prized coffee estates in Panama.  The Worlds highest recorded score for Geisha Washed coffee (94.66 / 100). The most expensive coffee in the world also with the record in the online auction for Geisha Natural (803 US$ p/Lb)) and Producer of the Year also for 2018. This place will blow your mind and you will learn from the fruit to the cupping what makes a great cup of Speciality Coffee.

The evening time is free to wander and dine.

Day 6 – River Adventure Full Day (8 to 9 hours approximately)

The perfect end for your adrenaline immersion is our River adventure – mixed experience. First we go to a natural volcanic rock formation in the Esti river: The mini canyons (or Canjilones de Gualaca) are where the adrenaline starts kicking in, different heights ranging from 50 centimetres to 4 metres high will get the juices going as you jump and swimming freely in the nice temperature river, we will bring googles for those who want to see the little fishes in the water. Then, after a couple of hours, we drive to an unspoiled secret place where a paradise waterfall (JAKWATA) awaits. Rappelling and slackline lessons will be given at this location and, if you dare, you can jump from a height of 25 or 50 meters above the lagoon into the river. Afterwards we will go to a nice local food restaurant where you will recover your energy with traditional dishes and natural fruit juice. Then we can drive to the Hot Springs where with 100% natural volcanic water you will relax you and ease your aching muscles.

Day 7 – Flight to Panama City & Connections.

By now you have experienced the Adrenaline of Panama, its flavours, culture, people and colours. Right after your breakfast at the Hotel we will have a special farewell present for all of you and make sure that all the good memories stay with you when you return home. Your guide will transfer you to the Airport in the city of David so you can flight back to Panama City.
