Yes – This is Addis Ababa
Day 1 Arrival Addis Ababa and check in at Hotel. In the afternoon a city tour would be arranged visit of the church of the holy trinity. And the archaeological museum and drive out to the Entoto hills for a view over the Capital. Addis is situated at an elevation of around 8000 feet and is only a century old. Overnight Hotel & breakfast.
Day 2 Fly to the town of Mekkele.Meet GMA vehicle and transfer for lunch at Hotel. After lunch drive to the surrounding Gheralta Mountains. Gheralta with its unique chains of mountains is the home of rock churches famous for their architecture, paintings and magnificent views.2 Nights Hotel with all meals.
Day 3 Excursions to the mountains.
Day 4 Drive to Axum. Tigray province was the capital of the Ethiopian empire between the 1stand 10th century AD the birth place of Christianity also a commercial route. Driving with many stops to interesting places with picnic lunch late afternoon reach at Axum. Overnight Hotel with full board.
Day 5 Evidence ofAxum’s former importance now lies at several points in or near the town. Ruined fortresses, palaces and churches, abundance of giant obelisks or stelae, carved from enormous slab of granites stand as mute reminders of its former glory. All day with lunch break and overnight Hotel.
Day 6 Fly to Lalibela one of the worlds most remarkable historic site. GMA Tour representative will meet at the Airport and check in to the Hotel. There are 11 rock cut churches of which the most impressive and photographed is bet- Giorgi’s carved in the form of Greek cross and approached across a log bridge. These rock cut churches are one of the wonders of the world. As tour of these churches require walks and mule treks on stunning views good footwear is a must. Hand touch is also important. 2 nights Hotel with full board.
Day 7 Lalibela
Day 8 Fly to Gondar. The GMA vehicle with Driver meet group at Gondar Airport. Check in to Hotel. Gondar located on the high plateau just north of lake Tana. The town was for 200 years the medieval capital of Ethiopia. Its most famous monuments are its exceptionally well preserved 17th century castles. 2 night’s overnight hotel with full board.
Day 9 A full day drive out with picnic lunch to these men mountains. Here a breathtaking view of the UNESCOs registered site tour will take place seeing its endemic mammals the Walia Ibex, Geladas Baboons, Red Jackals and different birds. Late afternoon drive back to Hotel for overnight.
Day 10 Drive from Gondar to Bahir Dar with many stops on your way including visit of the known AWRAMBA village. A society led by their own chief and practice their own communal way of life. On the way also, see the claimed source of the Blue Nile and pause to consider the tremendous distance this body of water must now travel to reach its mouth in the Mediterranean Sea.2 nights hotel with full board.
Day 11 Visit the Tisissat Falls. You will also spend time to visit some of the monasteries and churches containing valuable manuscripts and religious treasures all signifying the Ethiopian Orthodox Church is Coptic. Tour by boat crossing Lake Tana.
Day 12 Fly back to Addis Ababa. End of Tour
This tour can be conducted throughout the year except the rainy season (June, July, August).
