BOGOTA

You commence this adventure in Bogotá DC, the capital and largest city of Colombia with more than eight million people, and is the point of convergence for people from all over the country. It combines modern constructions with others that evoke its colonial past.

At the agreed time and in private service, departure from the hotel. Visit to the centre of Bogotá to walk through the Plaza de Bolívar where the National Capitol is located, the Primate Cathedral of Colombia, the Liévano Building (current headquarters of the Mayor of Bogotá), Nariño Palace (current residence of the head of state) and Palacio de San Carlos (former seat of residence and government of the Liberator Simón Bolívar).

Continue the walk through “La Candelaria” neighbourhood, declared National Heritage, Visit to the Gold Museum that has the exhibition of the different pre-Columbian cultures of Colombia and the world. (Gold Museum closed on Mondays, is replaced by Museo Botero). Visit the Sanctuary of Monserrate located at the top of the same name at 3,200 meters above sea level, one of the oldest and most important in the country. The means of mechanical access are Cable-way or Funicular; once at the top we can contemplate the most impressive panoramic that can be seen of Bogotá.

DAY 3 Tour to Salt Cathedral in Zipaquirá

Departure from Bogota in private service, by the central road to the town of Zipaquirá, arrival an hour later and entrance to visit the Salt Cathedral, built entirely in this mineral in a salt deposit of 2,764 metres above sea level, with an area of 8,000 sq. metres and consists of 3 main naves, a presbytery where the main altar is also built in salt and the cross is 16m high, thus offering one of the wonders of the world.

DAY 6 Visit to Cocora Valley and Salento

Visit the Cocora Valley, a natural landscape located in the Central Cordillera of the Andes, in Quindío. Here is the Quindio wax palm (Ceroxylon quindiense), the highest in the world and the national tree of Colombia, there is also a variety of flora and fauna, many of them in danger of extinction, protected under the state as national park.

You will receive a warm welcome drink (Canelazo) and then a specialised eco-guide will introduce you to the Cocora nature reserve and as you walk through the cloud forest where you can see the biodiversity of the fauna and flora, you will experience the ritual of Quindío wax palm, in which the eco-guide tells the story of how the aborigines adored them. Continue the experience of planting palm seedlings. Then you will move to the typical town of Salento to walk through the colonial streets, visit craft workshops and the Mirador de Cocora.

 DAY 7 Visit to a coffee plantation

Visit to a coffee plantation where an expert will introduce you to the world of Colombian coffee, its preparation, roasting, quality characteristics and properties that make the difference between the best coffees in the world. Several coffee preparations will be tried. With the help of an expert guide you will tour the farm, appreciating its coffee plantations and the work of the collector. In this process, you will know about the famous wet processing that characterises Colombian coffee.

DAY 8  City tour

Tour around the island visiting the main places of interest like the Morgan Cave, West View, known as the small pool, where they can feed the fish and if someone wants to swim, they can do it during the 30 minutes that are in the place. They also arrive at the Eco-park that has an ecological path with trees and typical animals of the island. Continue with the visit to the Blow Hole, where it is expected to have strong breezes to appreciate this natural phenomenon, then go to the town of San Luis and climb to the Baptist Church, the first church built on the island there is a viewpoint from where you can see a panoramic of the whole island and its sea of 7 colours.

DAY 9  Tour to Johnny Cay and Aquarium

Departure at 9:30 from the pier of the Barracuda to Haynes Cay, Cayo where is the natural Aquarium where you can enjoy a nice sea bathe for about an hour.

There you can rent masks and recreate watching the varieties of fish. Then continue to Johnny Cay, declared Nature Park of the Seaflower Biosphere Reserve. It is a small island that can be seen from the downtown beaches; characterised by its beauty and white sand, adorned with palm trees, a restless sea and beautiful people.

Return at 1:30 PM – If you wish to stay for lunch, you would be returning at 3:00 PM.  Does not include lunch.

CARTAGENA

Located on the shores of the Caribbean Sea, its colonial houses, its centenary convents, its stone streets and its walls that defended the inhabitants of pirate attacks are part of the essence of Cartagena. With squares, balconies full of flowers and facades of pastel colours that change according to how they receive sunlight, the capital of the department of Bolívar is ideal to surprise its visitors.

DAY 11  City tour

In the afternoon, tour of the city with a visit to the San Felipe de Barajas Castle, the most surprising work of Spanish engineering in America. Visit to the house Museum Rafael Núñez , residence of who was for 4 times president of the Republic of Colombia and it was in this place also where one of the greatest political reforms of the country began in the 19th century: the Constitution of 1886 He directed the course of Colombia until 1991. Rafael Núñez was the writer of the national anthem, recognised as one of the most beautiful in the world. Stop for photo in the letters of Cartagena located in Marbella. It also includes a tour of the residential neighbourhoods that border the Bay of Cartagena and visit the Museum of the Emerald.

DAY 12  Day tour to Isla del Sol (Rosario Islands)

Transfer from the hotel to the pier in shared service to take a boat for a visit to the Rosario Islands, an archipelago where you can enjoy crystal clear waters and small white sand beaches, located just 60 minutes by speedboat from Cartagena.

In this place you can enjoy a typical lunch and have the possibility of doing other activities besides spending beach time you can hire directly, such as visiting the aquarium, snorkelling, among others.

DAY 1 Transfer in and Evening Safari

 Nature organises a show every day in the Amazon to let you see pink dolphins in the river. At this point where Colombia, Peru and Brazil are found, indigenous cultures such as Ticunas, Huitotos and Yucunas share the jungle.

Evening Safari

The lakes in the tributaries of the Amazon are unique ecosystems, with a profusion of great variety of wildlife. From lake to lake there are many differences, depending on the size of each one and the type of forest surrounding it. In high water we have choosen the Saraiva Lake: and low water Gamboa lake located in the state Loreto Peru. We will make a nighttime excursion in boats with capacity for 5 to 10 persons where along the banks we will discover the shining eyes of alligators, among which are found the black alligator, an important fierce predator in the Amazon. This reptile is very similar to the crocodile and can grow up to 6.5 meters in length. The alligators´ diet includes fish, danta (tapirs), and other mammals of the region. The black alligator is under protection because since the last century, hunting of this animal (for its meat and skin) has reduced the population

DAY 2 Day tour to Puerto Nariño and the Monkey Island

A complete tour on the great Amazon River from Leticia where you can visit and admire various ecosystems such as: Reserva de la Victoria Regia where we will visit the largest lotus in the world, then visit the attractive Isla de Los Micos with an area of 450 hectares where you will have contact with the dominant species of the Island, the Saimiri or squirrel monkey, you will know its history on the island and the different species that inhabit it while the indigenous environmental interpreter illustrates its behaviour, social organisation, reproduction and feeding.

You will be fascinated with the flora and fauna of the surrounding environment. Upstream we will find a community of natives of the Tikuna: Macedonia ethnic group, a perfect place to appreciate the handicrafts designed and elaborated by the inhabitants, outstanding among which are the tapestries and dolls made of yanchama (tree bark), beautiful accessories made with seeds and feathers, spectacular backpacks woven with chambira and a variety of objects such as thinkers, canes, buckles and elaborate necklaces of the rosewood (brosimum rubescens taub), a very fine timber species of great cultural value to many of the region’s indigenous communities.

Then a tour of Puerto Nariño, the second municipality of the department; a very characteristic small town inhabited by natives and settlers (called the manager of Colombia); We will also visit the Natutama museum “the underwater world of the Amazon River” and the wonders of the Amazonian night beach, we will sail to the Tarapoto Lakes, where a great variety of species live, such as gray and pink dolphins, manatees, caimans, anacondas, and the largest scale fish, the Pirarucu.

PASTO AND LAS LAJAS OPTION

Pasto has been the cultural and religious administrative centre of the region since colonial times. During the nineteenth century, due to the warlike defence of the city that its inhabitants carried out in the Independence of Colombia, it was known as «La Leona de Los Andes» The city of Pasto is also known as «Surprise city of Colombia»

DAY 2 – Tour to “Laguna de Cocha”

The Cocha means lagoon in Quechua language, this body of water measures 10,000 acres, with the island of Corota right in the middle. DAY 3 – Tour to Las Lajas Sanctuary & Tulcan

The Lajas sanctuary, a Gothic church commonly known as “a miracle of God in the abyss,” is an engineering jewel built in the Guáitara river canyon near Ipiales. Legend has it that Maria Mueses, a native woman, and her daughter Rosa saw the image of the Virgin here in 1754. This church is visited by pilgrims from all over the world, especially on Sundays.

Includes visit to Tulcán Cemetery and lunch. Transfer back to Pasto.

SAN AUGUSTIN & TIERRADENTRO OPTION

The Archaeological Park of San Agustín, Huila, which was deemed a UNESCO World Heritage in 1995. There are traces of a culture over 3,000 years old.

In Tierradentro Archaeological Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1995 there is a pre-Hispanic cemetery about 1,400 years old worth visiting.

Visit to the archaeological park of San Agustin, cultural heritage of humanity (UNESCO 1995), where Mesitas A, B, C and D will be known; the ceremonial fountain of Lavapatas, the forest of the statues and the archaeological museum.

In the afternoon a nice horseback ride to the plank and the Chaquira, spectacular trail to fully enjoy the enchantment of the Andean landscape.

Day 3 – Isnos

TAYRONA PARK OPTION

Blue and green crystalline waters, unique ecology and biodiversity, plus a lodging option that allows direct contact with nature are some of the characteristics that make Tayrona National Park the ideal destination for nature and adventure lovers.

It is believed that about 15 or 20 thousand years ago, when they were still effects of the last ice age, small bands of nomadic hunters and gatherers occupied the area indicated by the Park. In the 6th and 7th centuries, this area was occupied by tribes that settled on the coast and in the highlands, known as Tayronas.
